About Helen Green

Helen Green began her recorder playing career, like so many people, at primary school. Her increasing interest in music also lead her to take up the oboe. She continued her studies on both instruments at the Birmingham School of Music, where she was a recorder student of Alan Davis.

As a member of the Halcyon Ensemble
(with Alan Davis and Paul Clark), Helen took part in many recitals at venues that included St. John's, Smith Square, The Swansea Bach Festival, the Hexham Festival, and perhaps most memorably concerts at The Purcell Rooms and the Grovesner Museum, Chester using the famous 'Chester Recorders' - a consort of 18th century recorders made by Peter Bressan.
Alan Davis, Helen gave the first performance of Edwin Roxburgh's 'Constellations' for recorder and oboe at St. James the Less, Pimlico. Helen teaches both oboe and recorder for Worcestershire Youth Music and at King's School ,Worcester. At present she is a member of the Western Wynds recorder consort , and as an oboist is an active orchestral and chamber musician.
