About Bizzaries
 |
Bizzaries is a pan-European period
instrument ensemble, founded by members of the European Union
Baroque Orchestra 2001. The group takes its name from Universal
Bizzaries - a set of Baroque string concertos by William
Corbett, each celebrating a different European region. Since
their first concerts together in August 2002. |
Bizzaries have performed regularly in England,
Austria and Germany and were finalists in the Early Music Network
International Young Artists Competition 2003.hey
have established a residency at Burg Stein and Schloss Waldenburg in
Germany, where they have given several sell-out performances as the
Fürstlich Schönburgische Capelle, reviving an ancient tradition of music
in the court at the invitation of Prinz Alfred von Schönburg.
Individually, the members of Bizzaries maintain freelance careers with
some of Europe's most prestigious ensembles. Together they delight in
exploring 17th and 18th century chamber music for strings and more, from
the familiar to the frankly bizarre. On Saturday 27th August, at the
Worcester Festival they perform an arrangement of the Mozart
Requiem for string quartet by a younger contemporary, Peter Lichtenthal.
Members include:
Kate Fawcett – Viola
Christiane Gagelmann – Violin
James O'Toole – violin
Martin Perkins - harpsichord / organ
Barbara Reiter – cello Christian Staude - bass / violone
